pelvic
physical therapy
“Just because it’s common,
does not mean you have to
live with it”
Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on restoring function in the muscles that support bladder, bowel, and sexual health. Issues like incontinence, discomfort, or post-partum challenges are common but not normal—and you don’t have to live with them. We’re here to help you address the root cause and regain control, whether you’re dealing with chronic pelvic pain, incontinence, or recovery after childbirth.
what is a pelvic floor?
Your pelvic floor is a "saddle" of muscles and connective tissue that stretches from your pubic bone to your tailbone. These muscles work together with your core, glutes, and adductors to support your bladder and bowel functions and maintain stability in your core.
what is pelvic floor dysfunction?
Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when these muscles become too tight, too weak, or uncoordinated. This can lead to a wide range of symptoms that may interfere with daily activities, cause discomfort, or diminish your quality of life. Early intervention is essential for addressing these issues and restoring normal function.
who is this for?
Pelvic floor dysfunction can affect anyone, from adolescent athletes to post-partum mothers and all genders. Whether you're experiencing pain, discomfort, or changes in your bladder or bowel function, pelvic floor therapy can help.
Dr. Jaime Hammons is certified to conduct thorough evaluations and treatments for female anatomy, including more complex diagnoses that require internal evaluations. While her practice does not currently include rectal or internal male anatomy evaluations, she continues to treat common pelvic issues for all.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Internal exams are only performed when necessary and with your full consent. They help in assessing the function of the pelvic floor muscles.
-
While internal exams are currently focused on female anatomy, Dr. Jaime is able to perform external evaluations and consultations for male patients experiencing pelvic floor-related issues.
-
It is extremely beneficial to know more about your body, even if you don’t currently have problems. Having 1-2 sessions of PT to know where your baseline is or learn how to prevent issues before/after having children can prevent so many problems.
-
The pelvic floor is just as much triggered with stress, emotion, or physical responses. Learning where you have muscle imbalances or weaknesses can help prevent these issues from happening nearly as frequently, even if you can’t reproduce the problem “in the moment”.
-
Jaime is a firm believer that just because something is “common”, doesn’t mean this has to be normal! There is always something we can do to modify any common problems that come with getting older or having children.
